Restoration of Independence Day

On May 4th Latvia celebrates Restoration of Independence Day. In 2022 the festivities coincided with the start of Russian invasion
in Ukraine, therefore the communication required compassion and solidarity with the people living our own past not so long ago.

A diptych of archival photos was selected as the main campaign visual. One side of the visual represented photos from 4th of May, 1991 in Latvia, the other — August 24th, 1991 photos from Ukraine. The copy reads — Independence (LV side), also independence (UKR side) to highlight the similarity of our countries past and the straight-forward nature of the freedom it deserves.

The campaign was welcomed warmly by both sides and highlighted the opportunities city poster real estate offered for a conversation with the public.
