The Latvian Academy of Culture is its people — individuals who, through their work, not only strengthen the cultural sphere but also have the ability to inspire and transform society. It is a dynamic environment where creativity, studies, and research develop side by side, closely connected to today’s cultural processes. This identity is not merely a visual update, but also a clear signal of the academy’s direction toward the future.

We used inverted brackets as a visual metaphor or gesture that positions culture not as an isolated space, but as an inviting force encompassing countless forms of expression. They create a magnetic field that attracts ideas, activities, and disciplines — shaping the environment around us while also serving as a bridge: from theatre to film, from research to dance, from the past to the present, from “I” to “we.”

In collaboration with designer Charlotte Rohde, we adapted a typeface featuring clean, geometric forms, rounded terminals, and softer curves. In this way, we have given the academy’s communication a unique and contemporary character.

The visual identity unites the academy’s diverse structural units and fields of activity into a cohesive image.

The new identity reinforces public perception of cultural education and highlights the practical value of culture in modern society. It also enhances the academy’s role within Latvia’s cultural sphere while elevating its recognition on an international level.
